Staff Report / orlandolocal.org

**Cold Temperatures and Strong Winds Expected in East-Central Florida**

East-Central Florida residents are being urged to prepare for significant weather impacts through Wednesday, according to an update from the Orlando Fire Department. Cold temperatures, strong winds, high surf, and hazardous boating conditions are forecasted to affect the region beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing through Wednesday morning.

Key highlights of the weather advisory include:

- **Wind Chills**: Temperatures are expected to feel like the upper 20s to mid-30s, especially near the I-4 corridor and areas northwest, early Wednesday morning.

- **Wind Gusts**: Coastal areas could experience gusts up to 35-40 MPH tonight, while other areas may face 25-30 MPH winds.

- **Surf and Beach Erosion**: Breaking surf of 8-10 feet, with minor beach erosion and scouring, is expected north of Cape Canaveral overnight.

- **Boating Hazards**: Gale-force wind gusts are forecasted north of Sebastian Inlet tonight, with seas ranging from 5-11 feet nearshore and up to 14 feet in the Gulf Stream.

- **Precipitation**: Periods of rain will continue into early Wednesday. A mix of sleet may occur early Wednesday in parts of northern Lake County and northwest Volusia County, though no accumulations or impacts are expected.

The Orlando Fire Department advises residents to secure any loose items around their homes to prevent damage due to strong winds. The agency also reminds locals to bundle up as cold wind chills settle into the region.

Stay safe and monitor local weather updates.
