Omkar Subramaniam Nominated for Presidential Scholar Program

**Edgewood High Senior Omkar Subramaniam Nominated for U.S. Presidential Scholar’s Program**
Brevard Public Schools has announced that Omkar Subramaniam, a senior at Edgewood High School, is the district’s fourth nominee for the prestigious U.S. Presidential Scholar’s Program. Omkar earned this nomination at the state level in recognition of his exceptional academic achievements.
With a remarkable 4.58 GPA and a near-perfect score of 1590 on the SAT, Omkar excels in academics. His accomplishments in STEM further distinguish him. He was honored with the 2024 Yale Science & Engineering Award and the U.S. Air Force Award for his innovative science fair project. Additionally, he received an $84,000 scholarship from the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) along with numerous other accolades.
Omkar also demonstrates leadership and technical expertise through his role as the Programming Team Lead for FIRST Robotics. He has written over 3,000 lines of open-source code and serves as the Captain of Edgewood’s Academic Challenge Team, which is set to compete at the state level.
Omkar joins Maggie Shunnarah of Cocoa Beach High School and Beau Couture and Edrees Saleem of West Shore Junior/Senior High School as Brevard Public Schools’ nominees for this prestigious honor.
