Tanner LaManga, a local BMX racer, was injured in a track accident that resulted in a severe spinal cord injury at the C3, C4, and C5 levels. LaManga, who is connected to the Water St. Cafe community through teammate Collin Dineen and the Dineen family, has been transferred to the Shepard Center in Georgia to begin his recovery process using advanced care and technology.

The incident has prompted local supporters, including those with personal experiences similar to Tanner’s situation—such as Teresa Cerino, whose father suffered a related injury in 1996 at a local race track—to express their concern. The community is raising funds to help cover the care expenses and the costs associated with Tanner’s treatment and transfer out of state.

Local community organizers have shared Tanner’s situation along with a link to a fundraising campaign via a go fund me platform, and plans are underway for additional fundraising efforts to support his return to upstate New York.
