Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell sent a message today regarding the aftermath of Hurricane Milton. As of Friday, October 11, no major damage was reported across the district’s 86 campuses. School District personnel inspected all campuses and administrative buildings and are working with Florida Power and Light to restore power to a few schools still affected by the storm.

The school district plans to resume normal operations on Monday, October 14, which is designated as a Teacher Workday, while students will return to classes on Tuesday, October 15. Preparations were made prior to the storm, and the team monitored conditions throughout the hurricane.

This hurricane season has resulted in the loss of four school days due to back-to-back storms. The district has developed plans to make up for the lost instructional time, which will not interfere with the scheduled Thanksgiving Holiday, set for Monday, November 25, through Friday, November 29.

Superintendent Rendell expressed gratitude for the community's support during these challenges and encouraged families to reach out with any questions or concerns.
