The Melbourne Police Department's SWAT Team held a memorial run today to honor Officer Joseph Pellicano, who was killed in the line of duty on October 17, 1986. The run began at Wickham Park and finished at the new Joseph Pellicano Law Enforcement Center, located at 250 W. NASA Blvd.

Chief David Gillespie stated, "The men and women of the Melbourne Police Department will always honor Officer Joseph Pellicano for his courage, dedication, and service to our community. We will never forget his sacrifice and will always be here for the family he left behind."

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the new Joseph Pellicano Law Enforcement Center is scheduled for November 1, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. Members of the community are invited to attend this event.
